Case Forward empowers the justice community with practical support, frontline partnership and creative tools for timely, transparent outcomes. Together, we are building a smarter path to justice and accountability.
Every delayed case leaves families waiting for closure and detectives unable to move forward. We exist to break this cycle and restore hope through innovation, smarter tools and measured results.
South Africa’s Justice Challenge — By the Numbers:
- Over 60% of crime scene evidence is unusable. This means many cases face significant challenges from the very beginning. (Crime Stats, SAPS 2024)
- South Africa recorded 26,000 murders in 2024. That’s an average of 72 lives lost every day (SAPS Annual Report, 2024)
- More than 43,000 assaults and 10,000 rapes were reported over the previous quarter. (SAPS Quarterly Crime Report, 2025)
- Over 1.9 million unresolved dockets leave police and prosecutors facing enormous backlogs, with many detectives carrying 300–500 cases each. (SAPS Crime Statistics, 2024)
- There is a DNA backlog exceeding 140,000 cases at the SAPS Forensic Science Laboratory. (SAPS, May 2025)
- Conviction rates for violent crime remain critically low at just 10–11%, among the lowest in the world. (SAPS Analysis, 2025)
From cogs to momentum, moving criminal cases forward. Case Forward bridges gaps in the justice process by working alongside frontline teams, institutions and private experts.
Like moving parts in sync, we connect people, ideas and solutions, making the system run more smoothly, step by step. We develop practical tools, share insight and spark collaboration that reduce delays and strengthen outcomes. Every initiative is shaped by frontline realities. Our focus is moving criminal cases forward, faster, fairer, and with greater clarity from the crime scene to the courtroom.
Case Forward brings private expertise into partnership with justice professionals to develop solutions that are practical, scalable, and tailored to real needs. Our focus is on strengthening case quality from the earliest investigative stage.
We support the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC), forensic units, case investigators, forensic pathologists, and prosecutors. By backing the work they already do, we help improve how cases move forward and how justice is served.
